Morgan Hightower joined WFMY in July 2012 as a multi-media journalist. In July 2015, Morgan became the evening weekend anchor.
As a general-assignment reporter, Morgan investigates stories that hold the powerful accountable. She tracks your tax dollars and is often covering political investigations. While she has an interest in politics, her passion is telling the stories of the brave men and women who serve our country. In June 2014, Morgan had the honor of traveling to Bedford, VA with a bus load of World War II veterans for the 70th Anniversary of D-Day.
WFMY News 2 earned an EMMY for its coverage of that memorable day.
Morgan came to the Triad from Montgomery, Alabama. There, she was part of a brand new team that built the newsroom at the ABC station. As a multimedia journalist in Montgomery, Morgan had a hand in all areas of the newscast, from shooting and writing all her stories, to producing, editing and hosting. Her most memorable story was the deadly tornado outbreak in Alabama in April, 2011. For months, Morgan followed recovery efforts, tracked down lost FEMA payments and told the stories of countless people rebuilding their lives.
Born and raised in Orlando, Florida, Morgan is a graduate of the University of Florida. When she isn't working, Morgan is most likely spending time with her husband, outside in her flower garden or is in the kitchen, whipping up a new recipe from Southern Living magazine.
