'Train to Christmas Town' Derails With 200 on Board

HOOD RIVER, Ore. – The Mount Hood Railroad Train to Christmas Town derailed Friday evening.

About 214 people were on board but no one was hurt. All the rail cars were still upright after the derailment, according to the Hood County Sheriff's Office.

The derailment  occurred at around 5:15 p.m. three miles outside of Hood River. Passengers were bused out following the derailment. They will be dropped off at Pine Grove Grange on Van Horn Drive in Hood River.

The ride, which begins in Hood River and takes riders to an unknown location, is a re-creation of the children’s story The Train to Christmas Town.
