HOUSTON -- Several men grabbed as many hair extensions as they could Wednesday morning after backing a pickup truck into a southwest Houston store.
Surveillance video recorded the men crashing into "Beauty Sensations," located along Beechnut near the West Sam Houston Tollway.
"Total of eight guys came in, in and out, in and out, took everything," said the owners' son, Kevin Kim.
He said his parents figure thousands of dollars in merchandise was stolen and that thousands of dollars in damage was done to the front of the store.
"This is our lifeline," he said.
In minutes, the thieves appear to have the store's most valuable merchandise in hand. Some of the items sell for up to $400 apiece.
"It's a hot commodity," said the store's manager, Deneen Jacobs. "I mean everybody's buying hair, everybody wants hair. And it's expensive."
She suspects the thieves scoped out the store beforehand to know what to take. She said the owners are good people and always give back to the community.
"I've been working with them a long time. I can't see why somebody would do that. That's crazy to me," she said.
She said they would often go as far as to give out free food and beauty products.
