Chicken Nuggets Recalled, May Contain Plastic

GAINESVILLE, Ga. -- Gainesville, Ga.-based Perdue is recalling more than 15,300 pounds of chicken nuggets that may be contaminated with small pieces of plastic.

The recalled products are in 8-ounce boxes of Applegate Naturals Chicken Nuggets with establishment number P2617 and a "best before" date of 02/05/15. They were shipped to retailers across the country.

So far, no one has fallen ill after eating the contaminated nuggets, but several customers complained about finding plastic inside the food.

Applegate conducted a recall on Aug. 8, but because the nuggets are frozen, buyers could still have the product in their freezers.

Anyone with questions about the recall is asked to call Applegate consumer relations specialist Gerry Clarkson at 800-587-5858.
