Shooting Near Elementary School In Winston-Salem: Police

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Winston-Salem Police Department responded to a “shooting” call at 4420 Ogburn Avenue and found a 34-year-old victim lying in the driveway with an injury to her upper arm.

The incident happened within half a mile of Mineral Springs Elementary School.

The victim was taken to the hospital by EMS to receive medical attention with injuries that are not considered life-threatening, according to police.

At the scene, police found two vehicles were damaged by the gunfire.

Police do not know if the victim and the suspect share a relationship and say there is no indication it was a random act of violence.

The suspect(s) reportedly fled the area in a possible small gray passenger vehicle toward Kapp Street.

The Winston-Salem Forsyth County School system was notified of the shooting and followed their procedures for containing the children within the schools until notified that the suspect(s) were no longer in the area.
