Box Car Drives Off Winston-Salem Bridge, Sends 3 to Hospital

WINSTON-SALEM — Winston-Salem and Forsyth County officials are at the scene of a wreck involving a box truck this morning. 

The call came in shortly before 9 a.m. on US 52 at the Germantown Road exit. According to police on scene, a box car was driving, crossed over the center line, and drove off the bridge. 

The Oak Summit bridge barrier was partially destroyed and crews are currently trying to pick up the pieces.

The fire department said three were injured and three to the hospital according to Forsyth EMS. 

The Oak Summit bridge and two lanes of US 52 were closed. All lanes should open by early afternoon.
