DARE COUNTY, N.C. -- Highway Patrol says two Dare County bridges are closed until further notice after accidents caused by high winds.
Troopers say a tractor-trailer overturned on US 64 Alligator River Bridge around 9:30 a.m. and another big rig flipped over on Virginia Dare Bridge around noon on Friday.
WNCT reports the driver involved in the Alligator River Bridge crash died. NCSHP said high winds were to blame in both accidents.
NCSHP doesn't know how long the two bridges will be closed. Drivers are encouraged to use a different route.
Highway Patrol says The Wright Memorial Bridge, the Herbert Bonner Bridge, the Washington Baum Bridge, and the Old Manns Harbor Bridge remain open.
The identities of the drivers have not been released.
