637-Pound Green Bean Casserole Breaks World Record

NEW YORK CITY, N.Y.  – 637 pounds of America’s favorite Thanksgiving side dish, the green bean casserole, set a new Guinness World Records title for the largest serving of the dish.

The casserole was cooked by Green Giant and Stella 34 Trattoria at Macy’s Herald Square.

In the over-sized dish were 780 cans of Green Giant cut green beans, 53 cans of mushroom soup, 32 quarts of milk and 65 pounds of French fried onions.

According to Green Giant, it took over 6 hours to open all of the cans of ingredients for the casserole.

2,000 homebound elderly in New York were fed from the gigantic meal after being immediately donated to Citymeals on Wheels.
