Man Dies After Setting Himself On Fire On Facebook Live: Police

MEMPHIS - Memphis police said a man died Saturday after he set himself on fire while streaming live on Facebook.

Officers received a call just after midnight Saturday morning to respond to the 1500 block of Madison, according to police. Officers reported finding the man with severe burns to his body, along with another person who was also burned, but not critically. The second person tried to kick away a lighter from the man who set himself on fire, police said.

Both were transported to the Regional Medical Center, where the man later died. His name has not been released. Police did not say if the second person burned was a man or woman.

A witness who did not want to be identified said he and the other patrons at Murphy's bar smelled gasoline before the man ran into the bar on fire. He said the bartender used an extinguisher to put out the fire.
