COLUMBIA, Tenn. -- An intoxicated woman is facing several charges after authorities said she walked into a funeral and tried to remove the body.
Police told Nashville NBC affiliate WSMV that Cyntha Ann Frierson is accused of disrupting a funeral, public intoxication, unlawful drug paraphernalia and driving on a revoked or suspended license.
Police said that Frierson hit two cars with her truck and sped away before arriving at the funeral home.
That's when WSMV reports she attempted to remove the body from the casket. Police said as many as six people attending the funeral pulled the woman outside.
However, Frierson denied the claims to ABC's WKRN saying she merely walked up and touched the body. She said there was no conflict but confirmed to the station she was removed from the funeral home.
A longtime friend of Frierson also told CBS affiliate WTVF that the alleged incident does not surprise him adding that he had seen police back and forth from where Frierson often stays. However, he was still shocked that it happened.
