Thousands of Greensboro tax dollars were spent to cover costs after GPD officers went to Charlotte to help with violent protests.
57 GPD officers made the trip to Charlotte last month, to help with crowd control. In all, the expenses totaled $57,972.58. The majority of the cost - $53,820.01 - was for overtime. GPD already submitted a request to North Carolina Emergency Management, to be reimbursed.
The demonstrations and protests in Charlotte cost the city more than four and a half million dollars. Just like Greensboro, most of that money was spent on officer overtime.
