GREENSBORO, N.C. - NC State's Richard Howell has been named the ACC Player of the Week.
Howell helped 20th-ranked NC State improve to 3-0 in the ACC for the first time since the 1988-89 season with a pair of home wins as the Wolfpack handed top-ranked Duke its first loss of the year, 84-76, on Saturday and defeated Georgia Tech, 83-70, last Wednesday.
For the week, Howell averaged a double-double of 11 points and 15 rebounds.
Against the Blue Devils, Howell recorded the 22nd double-double of his career with 18 rebounds, which tied his career-best in conference play and was one shy of his overall career-high, and 16 points on 7-for-12 shooting from the floor.
The Marietta, Ga., senior grabbed 14 of his game-high 18 rebounds in the second half, including 12 on the defensive end. Against the Yellow Jackets, Howell again was a force on the boards, registering a game-high 12 rebounds.
