Greensboro, NC -- Greensboro is among six contenders looking to host the 2016 Olympic Team Trials for swimming, USA Swimming announced Monday.
All the cities in contention are:
- Greensboro, N.C.
- Indianapolis, Ind.
- Jacksonville, Fla.
- Omaha, Neb.
- St. Louis, Mo.
- San Antonio, Texas
A USA Swimming evaluation team, along with an outside member of the governing body's board, will visit each city to select finalists from the group. The group will then send a recommendation to Executive Director Chuck Wielgus, the board of directors and the U.S. Olympic Committee.
Of the bid cities, only Indianapolis and Omaha have previously hosted trials. Omaha hosted the 2012 trials in an event that drew more than 164,000 people over an eight-day competition. The event was broadcast on live, national television.
USA Swimming's formal selection announcement is expected to come at the group's board meeting at the end of April.
