GREENSBORO, N.C. - Forty student-athletes from Atlantic Coast Conference schools were taken during the 2013 Major League Baseball Player Draft, which concluded on Saturday.

This marks the eighth consecutive year - and the ninth time in the last 10 years - that at least 40 players from the ACC have been selected.

The selection of North Carolina third baseman Colin Moran by the Miami Marlins as the sixth overall pick in Thursday night's opening round assured the ACC of a first-round pick for the 22nd consecutive season. Virginia Tech shortstop Chad Pinder followed as the 71st overall selection by the Oakland Athletics in Competitive Balance Round B, becoming the seventh-highest Hokie to be drafted.

By the time the draft ended on Saturday, Georgia Tech led all ACC schools with seven selections, including five in the first 10 rounds. Outfielder Daniel Palka, who went in the third round to the Arizona Diamondbacks, led the Georgia Tech contingent.

North Carolina and Virginia Tech followed with six selections each. Five players were taken from Florida State, and four apiece from Maryland and Miami.
