WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) -- The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association has announced that Winston-Salem State will host the conference's football championship game in 2013.
The conference announced Monday it unanimously accepted Winston-Salem State's bid to host the game at Bowman Gray Stadium.
The game was previously played Durham County Memorial Stadium in Durham.
Commissioner Jacqie Carpenter says the move is needed to accommodate a growing fan base and that hosting the championship at a member institution is the best decision for the future.
The 2013 CIAA football championship will be held Nov. 16.
