WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - C.J. Harris was named the Arnold Palmer Award winner, presented annually to the Wake Forest male athlete of the year.

The award based on 100 percent athletic accomplishments and any Demon Deacon student-athlete is eligible.

Harris, a senior basketball player in 2012-13, earned All-ACC honors for the second straight season after leading the Demon Deacons in scoring with 15.4 points per game.

He ranked sixth in the ACC in scoring and also led the league in free throw shooting at 84.7 percent (138-of-163). Harris ranked ninth in the ACC in 3-point field goals (1.9 per game) and 10th in minutes played (32.8).

Harris scored in double figures in 26 games this past year, including six 20-point performances. He scored a career-high 29 points twice, leading the Deacons to wins over Boston College (Jan. 12) and Virginia Tech (March 10).

Harris was named the ACC Player of the Week on Feb. 25 after scoring 23 points to lead the Deacons to an 80-65 upset of then No. 2-ranked Miami the previous Saturday.

A three-year team captain, Harris finished his career with 1,613 points in 124 games for an average of 13.0 per contest. He became just the 17th player in school history to score 1,600 points in a career.

Harris is the first basketball player since Chris Paul in 2005 to win the Arnold Palmer Award.
