GREENSBORO, NC-- Two former Wyndham Championship winners have joined the 2013 Wyndham field; Davis Love III and Carl Pettersson have made their plans to visit Sedgefield Country Club next month, it was announced today. The 74th annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 12-18, 2013.
These players join a field that also includes early commitments from defending champion Sergio Garcia, reigning FedExCup champion and 2007 Wyndham winner Brandt Snedeker as well as 2011 Wyndham winner and 2012 U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson.
Pettersson won the Wyndham Championship in 2008, the first year the tournament was played at Sedgefield Country Club after a 31-year hiatus. He is 46th in the Official World Golf Rankings and 101st in the current FedExCup point standings. Pettersson is the tournament's all-time leading money winner earning $1,687, 814 in his 10 previous Wyndham appearances. The NC State alumnus is a former Greensboro resident and an alumnus of Grimsley High School. He has five-career PGA TOUR wins.
Love is a 20-time PGA TOUR winner, and that number includes two wins here - in 1992 and 2006. Only the legendary Sam Snead, who won eight tournaments here, has more wins in this event than Love. In his 18 previous Wyndham Championship appearances, the University of North Carolina alumnus has won $1,541,256 placing him third on the tournament's all-time money-winners list. Love has represented United States in the Ryder Cup as the coach last year and six times as a player. He has played in six President's Cups, five World Cups, one Walker Cup and one Dunhill Cup. He also won the 1997 PGA Championship.
