HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Wil Myers is a young baseball standout with the Tampa Bay Rays who's making a name for himself in the sport he loves.
The 22-year-old returned to his old high school Monday at Wesleyan Christian Academy where he inspired young students during an assembly. He says it's an honor to to win the American League Rookie of the Year award.
"Very exciting just to be a finalist for something like that, it's just an awesome experience and a good year to kick off an off season," said Myers.
Myers beat out Detroit's Jose Iglesia and his teammate Chris Archer when he received 23 of 30 first place votes from the Baseball Writers' Association of America.
