Rich Skrosky, Elon New FB Coach
ELON, N.C. -- Elon University became the second Triad university to name a new head football coach this week.
On Thursday afternoon, Rich Skrosky was announced during a news conference as the new Phoenix head football coach.
According to a news release from the university, Skrosky will be the 21st head football coach. He will guide Elon as it moves to the Colonial Athletic Association for the 2014 season.
Skrosky is no stranger to the university or the area. Skrosky, who has 26 years of collegiate coaching experience, served as Elon's offensive line coach (2006-08) as well as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach (2009-10).
"I am extremely humbled to be named the head football coach at Elon," said Skrosky. "I am returning to a place that is very special to Suzanne and me.
Phoenix fans are encouraged to come out and meet Skrosky at Grill 584 on Huffman Mill Road in Burlington during a casual meet and greet Thursday starting at 5:30 p.m.
Athletic Director Dave Blank said this about Skrosky, "We are very excited to have Rich Skrosky return to Elon University as our head football coach."
Until landing this job, Skrosky spent the past three years as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Ball State University.
