Raleigh, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Carolina Hurricanes have placed forward Jiri Tlusty on injured reserve after he underwent an emergency appendectomy on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old Tlusty is expected to miss 2-to-3 weeks of action. He has six goals and four assists in 37 games this season.
The Hurricanes also recalled forward Zach Boychuk from Charlotte of the American Hockey League. Boychuk earned an assist during his only NHL game this season, a 5-3 Carolina victory against San Jose on Dec. 6.
