DURHAM, N.C. -- Seven total home dates, including a Thursday night matchup with rival North Carolina at Wallace Wade Stadium, highlight the 2014 Duke football schedule released by the ACC office on Wednesday afternoon.

Beginning with the season-opener against Elon on Saturday, August 30, Duke will start the campaign with its four non-conference games.  After travelling to face Troy on September 6, the Blue Devils will host Kansas (Sept. 13) and Tulane (Sept. 20) before closing out the month on the road for their ACC-opener at Miami.

The month of October features two games as a pair of open dates (Oct. 4 & Oct. 25) are sandwiched around league tilts versus Georgia Tech (Oct. 11 in Atlanta) and Virginia (Oct. 18 in Wallace Wade Stadium).  Duke plays its final two road contests in consecutive weeks to begin November's slate, travelling to face Pittsburgh (Nov. 1) and Syracuse (Nov. 8).

The 2014 regular season concludes with three home games against Virginia Tech (Nov. 15), North Carolina (Thursday, Nov. 20) and Wake Forest (Nov. 29).  The Thursday night matchup will be televised by ESPN (7:45 p.m.) and marks Duke's first home Thursday game since the Blue Devils defeated Army, 43-7, on September 15, 1994.

Eight of Duke's 11 FBS opponents achieved bowl eligibility a season ago and the 12 opponents combined for a 2013 overall record of 69-82 (.457).

Coming off last year's 10-4 campaign that included the ACC Coastal Division championship and an appearance in the 46th annual Chick-fil-A Bowl, Duke returns 17 starters and 44 lettermen for head coach David Cutcliffe's seventh squad.

Season tickets will go on sale Wednesday, February 5 and may be purchased by calling the Duke Athletic Ticket Office at 919-681-BLUE.
