SC State Basketball Player Collapses During Game Against NC State

Raleigh, NC (WLTX) - A South Carolina State University basketball player is "stabilized and conscious" after collapsing on the sidelines of Saturday's game.

The frightening incident happened as the Bulldogs were in Raleigh for a noon contest against NC State University.

Multiple media outlets identified the player as Tyvoris Solomon.

The incident began several minutes into the game. It's unclear what happened in the moments leading up to his collapse, but TV cameras caught players and coaches rushing toward the player on the bench. A few seconds later, players were seen fanning him.

At one point, paramedics began attending to the player, who was motionless at the time. Eventually, he was loaded onto a stretcher and taken away to a local hospital.

TV announcers later said Solomon was responsive, which the broadcasters called "a good sign."

Pack Sports, a website that covers NC State sports, said SC State coaches and players could be seen crying on the sidelines as they worried about Solomon.

NC State players were seeing locked arm and arm while the situation unfolded. NC State Head Coach Kevin Keats could be seeing putting his arm around SC State Coach Murray Garvin to console him.

Both teams went to the locker room, and the game was delayed for about 20 minutes. The public address announcer told the audience before play resumed that Solomon was "stablized and conscious."

Players and coaches with SC State voted to continue the game at 1 p.m., according to the official NC State men's basketball Twitter account.

Solomon's exact condition is not yet known.
