Greensboro Hosting NCAA D-III Golf Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- More than 200 of the nation's top collegiate golfers are in Greensboro this week to tee off on a national stage.

Guilford College, the Greensboro Sports Commission and Grandover Resort are hosting the 2014 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships. The event runs from May 13-16 at Grandover Resort in Greensboro.

The tournament is comprised of 41 teams from 31 conferences.

With players and families coming to the Triad, organizers say the tournament brings in about $1.5 million in economic impact. It also brings exposure that could help Greensboro land other NCAA events.

WFMY News 2's Patrick Wright spent Wednesday morning with organizers, coaches and players to talk about the tournament and what it means for the area.

For more information about the tournament, including leader boards, head to the NCAA's website here.

The championship is free and open to the public. Organizers say you'll just a chair if you want to sit and something to keep you cool to attend the event.
