Wolfpack Men's Basketball Schedule Announced

RALEIGH, NC – Aiming for its fourth NCAA Tournament bid in as many years, the NC State men's basketball team has announced a 2014-15 schedule featuring 20 home games and 16 contests against teams who played in the 2014 college basketball postseason.

NC State, one of just 25 basketball programs to have played in the last three NCAA Tournaments, will face nine different opponents who played in the 2014 NCAA bracket. The Wolfpack will play 11 games against those nine teams, facing Virginia and North Carolina twice each.

The first four games at home comprise the Global Sports Invitational and conclude with a match-up against South Florida on ESPNU. Richmond and Boise State come to PNC Arena around the Thanksgiving holiday to close the first month.

Nationally-televised games at Purdue and vs. West Virginia in Madison Square Garden mix with six home games in December. During the month, NC State will host three teams – Wofford, Tennessee and Cincinnati – that made the NCAA Tournament last season. West Virginia and Louisiana Tech each played in the NIT last year.

The main portion of the ACC schedule begins Saturday, Jan. 3 at home against Pittsburgh. Duke, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Clemson all come to PNC Arena in January, with the Pack playing at defending ACC champion Virginia in addition to Florida State, Miami and Georgia Tech.

NC State has two home games and four road games on the schedule for February. Virginia and Virginia Tech visit Raleigh around trips to Wake Forest, Louisville, North Carolina and Boston College. The regular season concludes Saturday, March 7 at home against Syracuse in a nationally-televised contest.

Complete TV and game time information will be released as it becomes available.

Wolfpack fans will have plenty of opportunities to see their favorite team early in the regular season. NC State will play at home for 10 of its first 11 games. The Pack has six home games in November and six more in December.

The 2014-15 academic year will be the last for Reynolds Coliseum before it undergoes a comprehensive renovation. NC State will celebrate the historic building with Throwback With The Pack Friday, Oct. 17. The event will be preceded by a men's soccer home match vs. North Carolina at 6 p.m. and a volleyball match against UNC at 6:30 p.m. The retro-themed Throwback With The Pack will begin shortly after volleyball, giving fans their first look at the 2014-15 team. The night will include autograph sessions and an alumni game with some special guests expected to suit up in Reynolds one more time.

In addition to Throwback With The Pack in October, Gottfried's squad will play two games at Reynolds Coliseum two days apart. NCSU will host Charleston Southern Friday, Dec. 12 and Wofford Sunday, Dec. 14. NC State is 13-0 at Reynolds since beginning play at PNC Arena in 1999.

NCSU will have a chance to get a head start in the ACC standings early in the season. The Pack will host Wake Forest in its league opener Saturday, Dec. 6. That's the earliest NC State has had an ACC contest since the 1998-99 season when it traveled to Duke on Dec. 5.

For the second time in three years, NC State will play a game in Madison Square Garden. NC State's game vs. West Virginia is the main event of the Gazelle Group's Gotham Classic and will be Saturday, Dec. 20 at 9:30 p.m. Gottfried and the Wolfpack defeated UConn at MSG in 2012.

PNC Arena will be buzzing for a week in January when Duke and North Carolina visit Raleigh just three days apart. After facing Duke in a game televised by CBS Sunday, Jan. 11, UNC visits Wednesday, Jan. 14 in a game to be aired on ESPN2.
