Cam Newton Throws Football For First Time In 6 Months

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – After undergoing offseason shoulder surgery, Cam Newton is throwing a football again.

According to a report from Panthers.com reporter Bill Voth, Newton threw overhand for the first time in six months inside the Panthers’ locker room Monday.

“Cool, a lot of anticipation,” Newton told Panthers.com when asked how it felt to get back to throwing the ball around. “Obviously, not 100 percent, but seeing the ball come out of my hands in a throwing motion was good.”

Newton reportedly threw with a trainer in the locker room in three sets of 15 with the farthest throw being about 10 lockers. Newton played the final four games of last season with a partially torn rotator cuff, a decision that in hindsight, was probably unnecessary with the Panthers sitting outside the playoff picture.

Newton underwent surgery in March and is set to be ready for full practice come training camp in late July.
