GREENSBORO, N.C. -- NFL players and coaches will hit the links for a good cause this week.
Former Carolina Panthers player and coach Ricky Proehl is hosting the Ricky Proehl Celebrity Golf Classic at Grandover Golf Resort.
The Classic features members of the Panthers organization, as well as other current and former NFL players. The event will raise money for Proehl's P.O.W.E.R. of Play Foundation.
The Foundation gives money to local children's organizations in the area. The tournament has raised more than $1.5 million for the Foundation over the past 10 years.
The Classic is set for Friday, June 2, at Grandover with 8 a.m. shotgun starts. If you'd like to donate to the Foundation or the Classic, visit the P.O.W.E.R. of Play Foundation's website.
Proehl will also host the "Blue Jeans and Bourbon" event Thursday night to give fans a chance to spend time with some of the players and coaches playing in the tournament. The event includes dinner, a live and silent auction and all sorts of other entertainment.
"Blue Jeans and Bourbon" is Thursday, June 1 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Proehlific Park in Greensboro. You can find ticket information here.
