CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) - UNC Greensboro right-hander Matt Frisbee worked six scoreless innings as the fourth-seeded Spartans eliminated No. 3 seed St. John's from the NCAA Tournament's Clemson Regional with a 3-1 victory Saturday.
UNC Greensboro (36-23) will take on either top-seeded Clemson or No. 2 seed Vanderbilt in another elimination game Sunday.
Frisbee (8-4) held the Red Storm (42-13) to just three hits in six innings for the Southern Conference Tournament champions. Andrew Wantz pitched the final three innings for his fifth save of the season.
Caleb Webster had an RBI single in the first inning and Ben Spitznagel a run-scoring hit in the second to put the Spartans up 2-0. St. John's could not rally back.
Michael Gross had an RBI double in the eighth for UNC Greensboro's final run.
St. John's starter Kevin Magee (4-1) picked up his season's first loss despite giving up just five hits and two runs.
