WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. Wake Forest beat Tulane in their season opener thanks to solid defense and one score by QB Kendall Hinton.
After a preseason position battle, junior quarterback John Wolford started for the Demon Deacons however, sophomore Kendall Hinton also saw action.
Hinton scored in the second quarter from one yard out to make the score 7-3.
After the game, Wake's third-year head coach Dave Clawson said, "Our defense did a great job, the only points they gave up were off the penalty and they did a remarkable job. We have to get better on offense and we will but it was a good win. We are 1-0, now we have a lot of corrections to make. You’d rather teach after a win than a loss, obviously we have a lot of work to do."
Wake Forest takes on Duke in Week 2.
