WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest quarterback John Wolford and tight end Cam Serigne have each been recognized by the Atlantic Coast Conference as an ACC Player of the Week following Saturday’s record-breaking 64-43 win at Syracuse.
Wolford has been named the Offensive Back of the Week for the second time in three weeks. Against Syracuse, Wolford engineered the Deacon offense to a school record 734 yards of total offense. The 6-1, 200-pound senior from Jacksonville, Fla. (Bishop Kenny) posted a career-high 499 yards of total offense. Wolford completed 25 of 38 passes for 363 yards and three touchdowns while posting an efficiency rating of 172.1. Wolford rushed 19 times for 136 yards and three touchdowns, scoring on runs of 3, 9 and 29 yards. He accounted for six total touchdowns, tying the school record he matched on Oct. 28 against Louisville. During Wake Forest’s second half comeback (the Deacons trailed 38-24 at half and 43-40 entering the fourth quarter), Wolford completed 12 of 18 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns while rushing 10 times for 91 yards and a pair of scores.
Serigne, a 6-3, 240-pound redshirt senior tight end from Ashburn, Va. (Briar Woods), was named the ACC Receiver of the Week. The senior caught seven passes for 119 yards and three touchdowns against Syracuse. Serigne caught scoring passes of 31, 19 and 6 yards in the victory. In addition, he had four receptions that went for first downs. He now holds Wake Forest career records by a tight end in receptions, receiving yards and touchdown receptions.
