PIEDMONT, N.C. -- You can help WFMY News 2 and local Boy Scouts get food to families in need this Saturday.
Food 2 Families is teaming up with Scouting for Food this month to bring food to communities across the Piedmont.
Local scouts spent last weekend delivering door hangers to homes from Boone to Burlington, reminding people to donate. If you received a door hanger, simply take a bag from home, fill it with non-perishable food items and place it on your front porch or driveway by 9 a.m. Saturday.
Scouts will return Saturday, Feb. 8 to pick up the bags and take them to local food pantries, churches, homeless shelters and other places helping people who can't afford food.
If you did not receive a door hanger Feb. 1, you can still participate. Just check out the Food 2 Families section of our website to get information about this year's food collection, including a list of organizations accepting donations.
WFMY News 2's Patrick Wright will be live at Crisis Control Ministry Wednesday morning to tell you more about this campaign and who it helps. Be sure to watch the Good Morning Show from 4:30 to 8 a.m. to learn more.
