GREENSBORO, N.C. -- You can buy bundles of tree seedlings at a discounted price this weekend and help support water and soil education in our area.
The Guilford Soil and Water Conservation District is hosting its annual tree seedling sale Saturday, Feb. 22. The sale is the district's only fundraiser for the year. The funds go to educational programs and projects the district carries out at schools and in the community.
There is a long list of trees on sale this weekend, including North Carolina's state tree, the Longleaf Pine, as well as Red Cedars, Dogwoods and many others. The district will be selling thousands of trees at a discounted price; for instance, you can purchase a bundle of 25 Loblolly Pines for just $7.
WFMY News 2's Patrick Wright spent Thursday morning with organizers to tell you more about the sale and how it helps the conservation district.
If you want to stop by the sale Saturday, head to the district's Agricultural Center barn located at 3309 Burlington Road in Greensboro. The sale starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 11:30 a.m. For more information, call 336-375-5401 ext. 3.
