A Greensboro company creates granite tiles, bricks and pavers from waste from other countertop companies
Greensboro, NC -- A Triad company makes "green" outdoor patio products that could make your neighbors green with envy.
Earth Stone Products in Greensboro makes granite tiles or pavers at its facility on Yanceyville Street. The pavers can be made into a variety of things, primarily for outdoor patios.
The pavers are 100% sustainable. All the raw materials are trash from other countertop companies from North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Earth Stone transforms the scraps into pavers. Company employees then install the pavers to create products like fire pits and outdoor flooring.
"We go pick it up, we bring it to our facility, 100-percent recycle it, turn it into beautiful pavers and we put it on the ground. We keep it out of the landfill," explained co-owner Sandy Brady.
Founded in 2007, the company continues to grow. Last month alone, it recycled more than 11-million pounds of scrap granite. Renowned artist Bob Timberlake creates new designs for the company.
"Earth Stone is a natural product to work with. They're good folks, good friends. They're local using a recycled product. I'm so excited to be working with them," said Timberlake.
Earth Stone also makes other items with its recycled granite, including necklace pendants, engraved pet markers, personalized bricks for the future Carolina Field of Honor and customized plaques.
Earth Stone is more than an environmentally friendly company. It takes pride in its products and people.
"I'm going to take care of the product on your patio like it's my own. It's true love what we make. We're a small company doing big things and there are a few guys here. We know everyone's children, wives. We're a small knit family," said Brady.
