HIGH POINT, N.C. -- High Point Regional Health has named a new hospital executive to join its team.

Ernie Bovio, 46, will join the team as the new President and CEO. He'll take the place of Jeff Miller who will retire on March 31, 2014 after 26 years of service.

Bovio previously served as the Chief Executive Officer with Baylor, Scott, & White Health. He was in charge of three hospitals and 22 clinics under the organization for nine years in Texas. He'll also bring more than 18 years of health care management experience including working with Duke University Health System & Medical Center among other health care systems.

Bovio will begin his new role in May.

High Point Regional Health became part of the UNC Health Care System in April of 2013.
