GREENSBORO - Theshooting at the Los Angeles International Airport on Friday might have youwondering if we have enough security at public places here in the Triad.
After a national incident, sometimes there are calls for more security and more restrictions. But officers say we need to balance our reactions with everyday needs forprivacy.
"You do not want to intrude on people'srights to be there, but you also don't want to intrude on people'srights to not be a victim also," said Guilford County Sheriff BJ Barnes.
Barnes knows there's a fine line, but he also knows safety is the priority.
"Wetry to train our guys not to abuse their authority but we also remind them thattheir authority is put there so they can provide safety for our citizens,"said Barnes.
Some people say they want more security, but the Sheriff says no level ofsecurity will protect against everything.
"Whenis there not enough?" asks Barnes. "Ifanything happens, then people are going to say there'snot enough. You can never have too many. Enough would be one on one but that'snot going to happen."
At the Piedmont Triad International Airport, they provide theirown police force, but will partner with the Sheriff's Officeas needed.
