GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The search for Bianca Tanner, a Guilford County Schools teacher who was reported missing June 8, has extended from Charlotte to Greensboro.

Police in Charlotte changed the status of the case last week to a homicide investigation. Police Chief Rodney Monroe told WCNC that would allow more resources to help in the search.

Wednesday, Detective Hinson with the Greensboro Police Department confirmed to WFMY News 2 Greensboro police are assisting in the search.

Hinson said they will investigate any leads or tips they receive from Charlotte, as well as vet any information sent through Greensboro's Crime Stoppers.

Hinson said he could not comment on what types of tips police have received or followed up on for Charlotte police. Also, he said he could not comment on whether or not police have searched Tanner's Greensboro home.

Monday, search warrants were released in the case, and the documents reveal more information about what might have happened before the 31-year-old disappeared in the early hours of June 8.

Police searched the Druid Circle apartment in Charlotte that Tanner shared with her boyfriend, Angelo Smith. She and her three-year-old son recently moved there from Greensboro, where Tanner still taught elementary school at Reedy Fork Elementary School.

Smith reported Tanner missing just before 1 a.m. Sunday, June 8. He claimed she was drunk and the two had argued over a text she received. Smith told officers Tanner left the apartment, carrying a bag with her, at 11:46 p.m. June 7.

Police say there has not been any activity on Tanner's cellphone, social media or bank accounts since she vanished. Police served the search warrants for the Druid Circle apartment and Smith's red Mustang June 10.

Officers seized a Dell laptop, iPhone, various papers, two notebooks and a bottle of Captain Morgan rum. The warrants also said police took foam bedding from the trash outside, a black zipper pouch with an empty magazine, two torn photographs and a gold post earring from the trash inside.

Interviewers spoke with Tanner's three-year-old son. According to the warrants, he told officers "Mommy got a spanking with a belt. Angelo kicked mommy's butt and made her cry." The documents revealed the child also said, "Angelo is mean to mommy and hurt mommy in the face."

CMPD said Smith voluntarily came to the Law Enforcement Center but began deleting unknown items from his phone when asked to turn it over. Officers have said they do not know at this time what he deleted these items.

Police also discovered an outstanding domestic battery warrant for Smith out of Arkansas.

Police have classified her case as a homicide investigation.

There is a $5,000 reward for information on Tanner's whereabouts.

Call Charlotte police or Greensboro Crime Stoppers at 336-373-1000 with any information related to the case.
