Memphis, TN (WLTX) -- Shelby County Deputies say a 15-month-old girl is in stable condition after her parents left her in a car while shopping at a Kroger.

25-year-old Brittany Zanetti and 28-year-old Matthew Brown were each arrested and charged with child abuse and neglect of a child under 6 years old.

According to the Shelby County (Tenn.) Sheriff's Office, deputies along with the Shelby County Fire Department discovered a child locked inside of a Nissan Altima at the Kroger on North Houston Levee Road around 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Deputies say the 15-month-old girl was found unattended in the locked car, with with windows up, not running, and parked in direct sunlight. The temperature at the time was over 90 degrees.

Firefighters broke the window of the vehicle to remove the toddler and begin to assess her condition.

Deputies discovered and detained Zanetti and Brown inside Kroger. The parents told deputies that they knowingly left the child unattended in the vehicle while they went shopping.

The toddler was transported to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital and is in stable condition.

Both Brown and Zanetti are being held at the Shelby County Sheriff's Office.
