WILSON, N.C.-- Police have confirmed a 7-year-old child died Thursday from wounds after bullets were fired into a home in Wilson, NC. The incident happened in the 400 block of Parkview Street.

Officers told CBS Affiliate WRAL they responded to the area around10 p.m. Wednesday after receiving a call about shots being fired into a house. Police also said a right rear window of a car outside a home was shot out during the incident.

The 7-year-old, whose name has not been released, died after being taken to Vidant Medical Center for treatment, the station reports.

A neighbor told WRAL News that he heard six or seven gunshots.

Police said no other injuries have been reported from the shooting.

No arrests have been made, and Wilson police asked anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 252-243-2255 or 252-399-2323.
