Winston-Salem, NC -- Most of the time history class consists of reading about the events or writing papers on them. It's not everyday students get to reenactment certain historical time periods to learn about them.
Monday, Wiley Middle School students decided to take themselves through a historical experience. The Winston-Salem students built trenches to learn about World War I as part of social studies class.
They built a series of trenches in a basement classroom. Using a flashlight, they gained a better understanding of what life may have been like in those conditions.
WFMY News 2's Fred Hall captured the students while theylearned the lessons of yesterday by getting entrenched.
