GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Science tells us concrete shouldn't be able to float - don't tell that to the engineering students at North Carolina A&T.

The school's American Society of Civil Engineers Club is gearing up for the annual ASCE Carolinas Canoe Competition. It took the team at A&T a month just to create the mold, and now, the school is almost ready for competition.

The concrete canoe competition puts the local team up against other universities in our region, including Duke University, Clemson University and the University of South Carolina.

The ASCE Carolinas Conference is March 6-8.

WFMY News 2's Patrick Wright spent Friday morning with the team as students to show you the science behind these concrete canoes and how students are preparing.
