GASTONIA, N.C. (WBTV) -- It's the one thing you know you'll find in the kitchen refrigerator of one man's home in Gastonia, North Carolina and that's mayonnaise. And not just any jar of mayonnaise, it would have to be Duke's Mayonnaise.
Larry Clinton says he loves Duke's Mayonnaise so much he couldn't see himself without it. That's why he wants to be cremated and put in a Duke's Mayonnaise jar. That's right. Clinton puts mayonnaise on everything from a bologna and banana sandwiches, to peaches, pears, even on cheese.
Clinton says he came up with the idea of all places while at a funeral and he shared it with his wife. They both thought of it as a joke until it really started to sink in. Larry's daughter Teresa says she respects her father's wishes. So much so, that she contacted Duke's parent company. She wasn't expecting a reply but the company was so touched it had custom made labels made with Larry's Full name and sent the family two glass vessels already made.
