USA TODAY -- A couple got a $5 "well behaved kids" discount from a restaurant after Mother's Day brunch last weekend.
Daley and Alicia Welsh were dining at Carino Japanese Bistro in Calgary, Canada, with their nearly 1-year-old daughter, Evie, when they noticed the "Well Behaved Kids" item on their $54 check.
"We thought it was really sweet and a neat touch," Alicia Welsh said in an interview with USA TODAY Network.
Restaurant owner Toshi Carino told Yahoo Shine in an e-mail, "We welcome the kids and wanted to show some appreciation for kids (of course for parents!) with dining manners."
Welsh said her husband posted a photo of the bill on Reddit, which now has 2,519 comments.
Welsh said the response has been overwhelming, with many people happy to see a family rewarded for a well-behaved child.
The comments about the discount also brought up the question: Should a family with misbehaved kids get a surcharge?
