ASHEBORO, N.C.-- The North Carolina Zoo is one of a kind and a girl from Whitesville, New York just proved it.
11-year-old Joelle Loomis how his battling leukemia had a choice of any Zoo in the country to be a Zoologist for a day and she chose the NC Zoo.
Joelle Loomis, who has leukemia and wants to be a Zoologist, was granted her wish of spending the day at any Zoo in the U. S. Joelle chose the NC Zoo in Asheboro.
Joelle was there all day Tuesday and will be there for part of the day on Wednesday. During her time a the Zoo, Joelle will get to be a 'Zoologist'. She'll get inside looks at many of the animal exhibits and see what the zookeepers do day to day.
On her first day one of the elephants painted a picture for her.
WFMY News 2 Photojournalist's access to Joelle's animal exhibit tours was limited, but he was able to get a very candid interview with her.
