GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Cone Health officials will discuss closing Women's Hospital and moving its services at its board meeting coming up in September.
That's following a year study with health care consulting firm Kaufman Hall. Doug Allred, a representative with Cone Health, said the recommendation will include moving services to Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
Health leaders said it would costs tens of millions of dollars to continue renovating it. They're also waiting to find out how much it would costs to move the services to Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
The study also said the hospital should relocate its outpatient behavioral health services from Cone's Behavioral Health Hospital to other locations.
Hospital leaders hope to build a new behavioral health hospital in 2019.
Ultimately, Cone's board and state regulators would have to sign off on the projects.
