The state of North Carolina's auditors office recently found issues with two state universities. The documents say both North Carolina A&T State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill have some corrections to make.

State Auditors Find Errors At UNC System Universities

North Carolina A&T only had one issue. They needed to make improvements to how they notify students and parents of their loans. The problem wasn't that the money wasn't getting there. The university didn't notify students and parents each time a loan disbursement got credited to their account. So they didn't have the information they needed to make decisions. University officials say they've already made changes in the financial aid office.

UNC Chapel Hill had a couple of errors. The audit specifically focused on the university's research and development. Auditors found the university didn't keep good enough equipment records. The audit also said the university didn't protect equipment well enough. The other error dealt with a previous audit! Auditors found the university didn't have a system in place to make sure people, who had problems identified in their last report got decision letters. The university also says they've taken action to fix the problems.
