GREENSBORO, NC -- Besides oohing and aahing over the fireworks, you're going to take pictures - probably with your smartphone. Ken Colburn of Data Doctors Computer Services recommends you:

  • Turn off the flash and the HDR setting. If your HDR setting is on, fireworks can look blurry.
  • If your camera has a mode where you can take several pictures in succession--use it!
  • When the show starts, use the first couple of fireworks to make sure your camera is focusing in the right area by tapping the screen as the fireworks explode.
  • And avoid zooming in. A smartphone's digital zoom is actually cropping, not zooming. So do your cropping afterwards.

Here are more of Ken's great suggestions.
