When Charlotte-Mecklenberg Police arrested Angelo Grayson Smith Junior two weeks ago, on delinquency of a minor charge, he was wearing a t-shirt with his fraternity's letters. Now, he's charged with the first-degree murder of his girlfriend, Bianca Tanner. Sources say one of his fraternity brothers tipped police off to where to find her body. Now members of the National Panhellenic Council Greek community want to do more.
The North Carolina A&T Greek Alumni started the Greeks Against Domestic Violence campaign. The website says their purpose is to 'bring awareness on domestic violence while revitalizing & reinforcing our purpose to the families & the communities we live in & serve.'
You may not be a member of one of these Greek organizations. You may not have ties to any Greek organization, but you can still take part in stopping domestic violence and helping victims.
The North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence has service providers in every county in our state. You can volunteer to help-- whether that be with victims-- or simply in the office. You can also find resources right in your area if you, or a loved one, are in need of help. Click the counties below to find the Triad organizations.
