DOBSON, N.C.-- How do you reinforce the dangers of a snow storm? In Dobson, NC a curfew was the answer, according to the town manager Josh Smith. Smith told WFMY News 2 it was for safety reasons.
Smith said a state of emergency was declared at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday and police were then able to enforce a 'vehicular' curfew. During a live phone interview, Smith told WFMY News 2 that the town had received between six to eight inches of snow, but because of the curfew they didn't have to respond to accidents or stranded drivers.
The curfew excluded autos used in an essential capacity such as emergency response, medical transports and for hospital personnel to reach their jobs, Smith said.
Information about the curfew is also posted on the town's Facebook page.
