Gamble will oversee operations for various departments including budgeting, planning, and long-term goals for the town of Stoneville.

STONEVILLE, N.C. -- Former Kernersville police chief Ken Gamble has a new role in Rockingham County.

Starting Feb. 3, 2014, Gamble began serving as Stoneville's town administrator. He oversees operations for various departments including budgeting, planning and long-term goals.

WFMY News 2 spoke with Gamble. He says he is excited about the new opportunity.

Gamble resigned from the Kernersville Police Department in March 2013. In a news release from the Town of Kernersville following his resignation, Gamble cited a difference in leadership and management style that's incompatible with the Town Manager and the vision of the board's department for stepping down from his role.

Gamble applied for a police chief position with the town of Emerald Isle, in May 2013 and was one in five finalists.
