WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Development could be just around the corner for one Winston-Salem community.
Council member Denise D. Adams wants to make changes in the area near the corner of Polo Road and Cherry Street. She says some of the store fronts, parking lots and neighborhoods need renovation.
But, the council member says any changes are going to take a community wide effort.
"What we need to do as a community is come together to help everybody understand that we just don't want to be part of the community," said Adams. "We want to be in the community as well to help facilitate changes that affect the quality of life for the neighborhood."
Council member Adams will host three workshops next week to get community input about the project.
The first meeting is next Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon and 3 to 5 p.m. A team will present a market analysis and give introduction to sustainable development.
The second is next Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon and 6 to 8 p.m. At that meeting, a design team will present possible renovation scenarios for the area as well as hear public feedback.
Friday, the design team will present its findings based on the community's input. That meeting will happen at 10 a.m.
All of these meetings will be at Specialty Park in Winston-Salem; the address is 515 Specialty Park Dr.
