CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating a shooting at an uptown hotel.

Around 2 a.m. Sunday, CMPD responded to the Sheraton Hotel in the 500 block of McDowell Street in reference to shots fired.

Police say an altercation between several hotel guests in the main ballroom escalated and a handgun was produced.

Two people were shot. One victim with a gunshot wound to the leg was taken to CMC Main with non-life threatening injuries. The second victim was treated on scene for a superficial leg injury. Several others were treated on scene for abrasions received while attempting to exit the hotel during the shooting.

No one has been arrested in the case. Authorities are still investigating.
